About the Empress

Memoirs of an Empress is a space where advice and anecdotes on love, culture, finance, and purpose intersect to motivate a new generation of leaders committed to helping others, helping themselves, and improving the world.

The Empress® also known as Tracee Thomas is a cultural enthusiast, educator, and entrepreneur with roots that trace back five generations to Dominica, W.I, the Nature Island of the Caribbean.

Tracee credits the creation of the Memoirs of an Empress blog and her lifestyle enhancement company Empress Movements International to the 18 months she spent caring for her mother during her epic battle with a rare, terminal form of Stage 4 stomach cancer.  Journaling,  yoga, positive thought spirituality, and the healing powers of laughter provided the strength to care for her mother, and have the peace of mind to enjoy every minute of her mothers last 18 months alive. Her mother’s life is Tracee’s inspiration for pushing other people to follow their passions, live their purpose, and enjoy life while they do it.

Empress Movements®  redefines education as a means to empowers young people of color to understand their history, celebrate the present, and redefine possibilities to change the future. Using the tools of culture, arts and movement, and spirituality, Empress Movements provides tools on financial empowerment, healthy holistic living, and accessing the expansive resources that history and culture provide.

Tracee Thomas has over 15 years experience as educator, a decade of experience in Non Profit Management, and holds a Master’s Degree in Education. Her passion for the history of the African Diaspora can be credited to the strong oral tradition in her family, as well as her Bachelors degree in Africana Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Her passions include reading, writing, traveling, and discovering new ways the people of African descent are changing history around the world.
